HeadsUp

HeadsUp work with 4-11 year olds (primary aged) children in the WEB area. Our work is based on raising awareness of mental health, teaching children how to look after their mental health and offering support to those who are starting to struggle. Our aims are about prevention and early intervention.

We offer 1-1 or small group sessions to children who are struggling with any aspect of their mental health. Referrals can come from GP’s, schools or parents. We initially offer 6-8 sessions, then we will review with everyone involved and look at the best way forward (more sessions with HeadsUP, referrals to other agencies etc). The aims of the sessions are to empower and equip children to look after their own mental health and to help them develop a whole set of personal strengths and skills that prepare them for adult life.

These sessions are usually delivered in schools so that the child can be in a familiar, safe environment.

We also offer schools class sessions and assemblies around any aspect of mental health. We train Mental Health Ambassadors to deliver initiatives in their own schools and work with Year 6 pupils to support them around transition to secondary school.
